Why Does The Copper Appear To Be Wearing Off My Copper Bracelet?
We do sometimes receive comments from customers saying that the copper on their bracelets seems to be peeling off, but this is not the case—all our copper bracelets are made of 99%pure copper!
To minimize the oxidation that can occur when pure copper comes into contact with skin (a mark many people find undesirable), we add an extra layer of copper-colored protective plating on the surface of the pure copper bracelets. However, over time with daily wear, this plating will gradually wear down due to various factors: frequent friction between the bracelet and items like clothing or tabletops, contact with acidic substances in human sweat, or exposure to chemicals such as dish soap, perfume, and skincare products—all of which can affect the durability of the plating.
When the plating wears away, the true pure copper underneath is revealed—that’s the natural color of pure copper itself (usually softer and more lustrous than the plating, with a subtle metallic sheen). Additionally, third-party test reports clearly show that our bracelets contain no other impurity metals, further confirming their pure copper material.
Copper jewelry Maintenance Details
•Daily Cleaning: After each wear, gently wipe the bracelet surface with a soft microfiber cloth to remove sweat, oil, or dust; if stained, clean it with warm water (30-40℃) and neutral soap (e.g., baby-specific soap), avoiding alcohol-based or abrasive cleaners (which accelerate plating wear).
•Storage Protection: When not wearing, place the bracelet in a separate jewelry box (lined with soft velvet) to avoid collision with other metal jewelry or hard objects (prevent scratches); before long-term storage, apply a thin layer of colorless petroleum jelly (or specialized copper care oil) on the bracelet surface to isolate air and moisture and slow oxidation.
•Wearing Notes: Do not wear the bracelet while swimming (seawater and pool water contain chlorine), soaking in hot springs, or doing strenuous exercise; after spraying perfume or applying skincare products, wait until the skin is completely dry before putting on the bracelet to reduce chemical erosion of the plating.
